The moment of absence is an elusive moment of life, which is drowned in the noise and murk that fills our world. The moment you close your eyes, you see streaks of bright light. The moment you close your ears, you hear your fingers pressing on your earlobes. The moment you pinch your nose, you can smell the skin.
I imagined the feeling—a jumble of anxious thoughts and annoying background noise in my head. Everything around me is floating, and I can't concentrate. The only thing to hold on to is the light.
And then, while creating the sketches, I had the idea to add a human figure. A woman in a shroud with long hair for dramatic effect.
This was followed by the painting process. I tried to make it soft, semi-realistic, but at the same time muted, to convey the distortion of murky water.
This is an almost literal illustration of the meaning of Noise and Mutiny.
